Listening is a key part of spiritual growth. So often when we pray we give God a list of demands. However these demands are often the things that clutter us. To listen to God we need to “open our minds and hearts, emptied of clutter that blocks our way adn crowds out what awaits entrance into our life. Listening is especially difficult to do because our external world is so full of noise.” Listening is a bit of a lost art in the busy, noisy world in which we live. Take time today to be attentive to your inner voice, not the clutter but the peaceful longing. And then listen to the noises of nature, the sound of the song birds, the patter of the rain. Let it calm and bless you.
Breathprayer:
Breath in:...Holy One
Breath out:...I hear your voice
Reflection:
Hold the cup in your hands
Notice its silent purpose
Picture yourself being held silently in the spirit of the divine
Go to the stillness deep within and allow yourself to simply ‘be’
Listen...
Scripture: Psalm 85:8-13
Let me hear what God will speak, for God will speak peace...
Journaling:
What keeps me from listening?
What is my inner world wanting me to know?
Prayer:
Holy One, help me listen...
